History of Elmwood
After graduating from Glasgow University with a BSc in Maths & Physics and working as an Analyst for a number of years I became pregnant with my first child. As you would expect, when Kim was born my life changed completely. However, what I was not prepared for was the overwhelming sense of responsibility that came along with my little bundle of joy. I knew how I wanted to care for and educate my daughter, the reality was as a working parent it was more difficult than I had imagined to find a nursery that could meet my expectations. My quest to find such a nursery resulted in my vision for Elmwood. After 3 long years my dream was realised and in January 2000 Elmwood Nursery School was born and we haven’t looked back since.
I’ve never been one for standing still, a sentiment echoed in the childcare sector - new legislation and guidance changes are introduced whenever the need arises. We embrace these changes as we are fully committed to improving the positive outcomes for our children.
We have come along way since opening Elmwood 16 years ago with only 3 pre-school graduates and have grown in to one of the most highly respected nurseries in East Renfrewshire. We’ve gone from adding a first floor to expanding into the neighbouring building.
Denise Bunis, Managing Director
Any nursery is only as good as it’s team, at Elmwood we recognise the importance of caring for our staff as well as our children promoting good working practices and access to a wealth of training. The length of services of many of our staff is testament to a positive, happy working environment.
We have an excellent, well balanced team of fully qualified practioners at Elmwood with a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience allowing us to ensure that we meet your child’s needs whatever stage of development they are at.
